Shemaghs can cause a lot of problems while providing few benefits.
If the idea is to wear them around the mouth, this impedes breathing, which is obviously vital in active scenarios. However, it can filter particulates from one's breathing air. This is where we must look at the situation with intent and design, rather than with aesthetics. Does the situation support a system which inhibits breathing yet provides higher quality air?
If the shemagh is to be worn around the neck we first must simply ask ourselves what we are gaining. Then we should consider that loose equipment can easily get caught in other equipment such as slings, hydration systems, tactical vest and magazine systems, communication systems, and so on.
Postmodern society has lost all conception of intent and purpose. It seeks after one insignificant aspect of the situation, leaving important issues unresolved and often amplified.

Wow all this over a rag. If you don't want to wear it don't, if you do. Go for it. And I never knew their was a uniform for street clothes. For me, the rag is going to help protect my neck. So it's a safety issue.

I say you can wear whatever you want, thats the beauty of airsoft and scenarios like these, you get to dress up and pretend to be some super awesome rambo dude. Having something that distinguishes us from everyone else would be cool but is not necessary.

Well, here's an idea. I don't disagree with squad identification, how about we do just an armband? So that we can still dress however we want, but squads are still identified?
That's just my thought, so far my squad seems to be a mercenary group, at least me and Caleb, so it seemed to be a middle choice.

Haha that's exactly what I said Ben. Honestly, let's just all stick the KSUAT patch on our uniform and call it good at that. What could possibly be more cool than wearing our own team's patch?!

My vote is exclusively for the patch on the uniform as sole team identification. ...or an aussie style half over sniper hat. the reason? it is stylish but it also performs the functions of sun block, weather repellent, team identifier and it does not interfere with any other equipment (except other headgear of course) P.S. I don’t see squad Identification as a huge issue.. but I’m new and I want to give my avatar some screen time and this seemed a relatively unobtrusive way to do it.
