I wanna preface my AAR with saying that this was a very fun day of airsoft. It was great to have the FRAT guys out. We are gonna go play with them this coming weekend on a CQC site. Please try to make it out. Let's have a good showing to it. I know a lot of people are busy but it's a good time. We don't regularly get to play CQC so don't pass up this opportunity!
With that little plug out of the way, I was very pleased with how the teams balanced out. Neither side had a clear advantage in that area. The first scenario, was a pretty straight forward CTF. Green, my team, on one side, and tan on the other. We pretty much decided to stick to defending. Initially, we were able to repel any attacks tan could muster. Though at first it seemed like tan was somewhat unorganized, probably due to being unfamiliar with the field. They very quickly organized and began putting together coordinated assaults. After holding them off for a while, we were flanked from behind and they took the flag and eliminated our team. Then due to confusion on the respawn rule, we decided to give it another go. We completely changed our tactics, I think much to the surprise of the tans and pretty handily blitzed the flag in part due to an epic pistol rush.
Then Greg and I made up a scenario real quick for the second game. Some sorta pilot down thing. Josh's gun was down right off the bat so we were down people. Rich and I pushed right up to the pilot and encountered the entire enemy team, killing some of them. Then I got killed and Rich's battery died, they got the pilot who became combat effective as part of their team and retreated to their base to hold him for the 20 minute period. They were soon bunkered in the woods and we had to attack them. They sent patrols to eliminate the invading green team. I was pretty pleased with how green team handled this part. Every time an enemy broke cover, he had no less that two guns on him. I think with enough time, we would have broken through to the pilot to end the game but time ran out before we could accomplish that...
Over all, it was a pretty fun day. It was certainly good to be on the field again.

28FEB10 TAN TEAM CO
Scenario 1: Objectives: Capture enemy flag Return flag to base
Plan: Tan team was instructed to have 2 teams of 3, 1 team would stay back and protect the flag while team 2 would move forward and attempt to snatch and grab OPFOR flag.
Action: 2 teams were successfully split, and team 1 went to OPFOR side and passed their defenses, successfully grabbing the flag. Team 2 took defensive positions and help the point. After a while, CO went to scout where OPFOR was mounting their attack, and to glean sit-reps on BLUEFOR and OPFOR operatives. OPFOR was spotted close to the woodline, so BLUEFOR team 2 operators were instructed to move forward to the treeline as a more defensible position. BLUEFOR gained a strong foothold and was able to provide support for a team 1 operator who took OPFOR flag and brought it back to BLUEFOR side. CO took the flag while team 1 and 2 operators provided rear security, allowing CO to successfully capture the flag. OPFOR was then given 20m to re-capture to further gameplay. OPFOR mounted a defense and BLUEFOR was down a few guns at this point, disallowing BLUEFOR to effectively adjust to OPFOR's change of tactics. Tan was overrun and OPFOR successfully took the flags.
Scenario 2: Objectives: Downed pilot to be retrieved Medic the downed pilot Take the pilot to pre-designated point Hold pilot on the team for 20m
Plan: BLUEFOR was split into 2 teams, a forward snatch and grab and a rear guard. 4 on forward team, 2 on rear. Forward was to grab and medic the pilot, while an operator (CO) was to provide security for the team with a marksman rifle. Rear Guard was to stay behind in predesignated positions, and when OPFOR was to move in to re-take the pilot, they were to pinch the team.
Action: BLUEFOR was successfully split into 2 teams, and the forward team moved forward as planned. The pilot had moved (not sure why) so forward had to change their tactics. The Horse in the AO went crazy, and CO's gun ran out of ammo (really just broke, unbeknown to me at the time), so CO went to calm the horse down so nobody got trampled. Forward successfully grabbed the pilot, and returned him to the point. Tan then set up a successful defense that worked a bit like it was supposed to. The right flank had a bit of trouble maneuvering into position to pinch. The defense held without the flank pinching at the proper time, allowing the team to hold the pilot for 20m successfully.
AAR: Scenario 1 went well, the teams seemed balanced and gun issues aside, everyone performed very well. We saw a lot of good movements, and a nice change of tactics on the green side to effect. Scenario 2 was a little rough. Caleb and I needed to be clearer on the downed pilot aspect - i.e. DOWNED pilot, so little to no movement, and certainly not towards or away from either team. Aside from that, great movements on both teams, green provided very good support for each other. Tan moved very well, and took very good covered positions, allowing BLUEFOR to effectively hold the point.
Conclusions: I saw a lot of good tactics and movements, and like Caleb said, huge thanks to FRAT guys for coming out, it was awesome to work with you guys. We had a good turnout with their help, and hopefully we can start getting our regulars back out now that it's warmer.
UC0 for next weekend!!! Lets get a good turnout y'all!

Green Team CO
Game 1 Capture the Flag: AO: Right side of Lynn's property
We had to move our flag because it was placed in view of the road, we also had a gun go down before the game started, so we were a man down.
Green quickly formed a defense line against the trench, leaving an operative (Rob) as security on the flag. Tan moved up near the road on our left flank, but it was a small force and we were able to stop their advance by that route each time. At this point Tan had found their bearings on the new field, and they moved across the trench and took Green's flag. Green team was quickly pinched and pinned down, and I egressed and tried to get around Tan, but they had good security over the whole creek, and I was unable to do so.
After a clarification about respawn rules, we were given 20 mikes to retake both flags on Tan's side. Green divided up into two teams, Caleb and Rich went to the right side to help pinch and flank if needed, while I took the rest on the left side where there was more cover. We were engaged while crossing the creek, but we were able to suppress enough that Tan fell back and took cover in the field.
We advanced up to the edge of the field, and were able to take a few of Tan down, while others were down due to Gun issues. I drew pistol and we bum rushed the field because there were operatives that were prone that I couldn't see. After eliminating them and medicing our guys, we moved on their security force guarding the flags. Tan team had good cover and position here, but we had triple their numbers, and so we were able to take out Wayne, and Amy. Amy was so well camouflaged that I didn't see her until she shot at me, if she hadn't been shooting blanks she would have got me. This ended the second part of this game in our favor.
Second Scenario Downed Pilot AO: Left side of Lynn's property
Green team split into two teams, one to go up on the top of the hill to the right, the other to stick to the middle of the field. We had two guns go down, and so our advance was somewhat delayed. Our group on the top got pinned and so I moved my squad to assist, Tan decided to retreat with the pilot at this point, so we mediced our guys and went after them.
We moved into the brush and I fell into Tan's ambush. Green team held their ground and we were able to stop flanking attempts by Tan, although we didn't make one of our own. We were gaining ground slowly, but we ran out of time before the objective could be reached.
AAR: It was awesome to be able to come out and play with more guys who have integrity and skill, that always makes the games close and fun. I saw good movements on both sides, radios were moot on my side, we only had two people with them, although we did use them successfully in the first scenario. There were some issues with moving close to the road, and the downed pilot wasn't placed well, but it was a great day overall. I had a blast, it was a great break from school.
