Ok, as you all know I am not there to lead a team to glory in this years Irene (Irene 8) . So there needs to be someone to take over and head the team this year. This is the first thing we need to arrange. I think that someone who has gone already either the last time or has gone before a differant time should head the team. I wish I could be there for this but I cant. I will in 2011 but not this year.
So , this is about the time that if you want to go to start saving and to start gathering up money for gear so you can go . There isnt alot to get for this event but there is alot to spend on the travel. ( nick rome I still owe you money , sorry). So start looking into intel and asking some of the other guys who have been abotu the event and ask them what you need. I would suggest alot of mags and alot of pistol mags and BBs out the ass. I would also say if you want to go then you need to get a really reliable pistol ( gas pistol) . So yeah, just start gettign things together and start training for MOUT and for a very cohesive team structure. I know that again I am not there to teach everyone who doesnt know MOUT this skill but just ask the irene 2009 guys and they will help teach you guys this awesome and very important skill. Later and keep in touch DOc

Well , get a team together and start planning. Irene usually comes in the fall and is in the east somewhere usually in the ohio river valley area. Like kentucky( zussman, fort knox) or in indiana at the NG place there. Plan accordingly though, this is not just a game. This is the super bowl of airsoft for the US. Good luck and later DOc

They were mean and they dominated the whole field and they are the best, they are very scary and they can actually dodge BBs without even looking. ha ha ha , no , but they are pretty rediculous. They think thaty are the best and they arent and they are the ones who guard Col. McKnight. So yeah, that is about it. I dont knwo if brent had a bad run in with them or not but I dont have an issue with them. Other than thay are kinda stuck-up. Later DOc

john and I had several first hand accounts of them flinching when getting shot but not calling it. Tried to get it on tape but I failed. I can't speak for all the Strikers but a few of them gave the rest of their team a REALLY bad name in my book. This is a very big problem that I see in airsoft games. Whenever you have an 'Special Forces' team in a game that is somewhat separate from the main force, in this case the Strikers were the Rangers QRF that were supposed to rappid deploy to 'trouble areas', you get a problem with that SF team feeling they are the best and must perform that way. I am positive that this causes hit calling problems nearly 100% of the time. Not just with the strikers, but with just about any team out there. They weren't even needed in the game. From what I hear from other FF guys that 'ran' into the Strikers, they were a lot of the time just sitting around talking to Mullen. And when the FF guys stumbled on them in a building everyone was always really surprised. Nobody had security set up. I never ran into them. KSUAT was to busy knocking at the Rangers front door the entire game (at the Hotel). Guys, I think in 2010 our objective should be to get to the Hotel roof and start feeding into (via the Comm) back to our command about Ranger movements. It would be perfect. Only 1 way up (the ladder) so once we are there, as long as we keep someone aimed at the ladder. There is no way they will be able to get us off, and we can just ruin their day by reporting all their movements.

Brent, you have the same ideas as I. I was totally wanting to do that the last time, but it just kept getting killed by the amount of TFR that was in the building. I wanted to keep the building also but it seemed that we just had a problem getting into the building and getting to the second level so we need to really work on that. Building clearing and moving to strait to the objective. I know we can achieve this goal. We just have to by pass all the other bull.
One thing we need to remember is that we might not be attacking from the same side again. So either way we need to get behind enemy lines and set up an OP to report and to provide cover fire and to do some sniping. I would definently look into a bigger team this year and put us all in the same squad. This way we cna have a medic and also have a SAW and a sniper. This would totally put our odds up in our favor. Later all , DOc

IMO I wouldn't be so worried about sniping. If we expose ourselves over the wall (of a building like the hotel) then sooner or later we are going to get shot. We need to take a point like that for the sole purpose of passing intel up the command tree. I know it gets tiring to move through the tunnels but I think that is out best way in. Either directly into the Hotel or out the Subway station. Once we get there, they will probably know about it and being trying to get us out. So at the least we will tie up a bunch of their forces trying to get rid of us. And like I said, If we can make it to the roof, we only have to cover 1 point of entry (the ladder) which will not be that hard. Just watch out for them throwing grenades up.

I can't justify the expense, and I don't have the money, so I won't be going, but I wish you guys the best.

Oh, shane , it is a justified expense. But if you donthave the cash to justify with then I guess it is a No-Go. It is cool , I am sure that irene wont be going anywhere soon. It will going on forever and ever and ever. Later DOc

question, did each of you guys spent about 700 to go to this event? A little rich for my blood. It was cool see all that stuff, but just for a two day event and travel time, rich. I could write on of the credit card commercial, and at the end put priceless. But I won't. ;D

$700? no Entry fee for a First Timer was like $250 wasn't it guys? It is less once have been to an Irene. Gas wasn't to bad. Since 6 of went we were able to split all that up. Now I do think that just about everyone bought some new gear before we headed out. So maybe some of us spent $700 total but the entry fee is nothing like that. If you have all the gear you want, then your gold. Irene rule of thumb. As many pistol mags as you think you need. I would double it.

$230 entry, Vets are $180 or something like that (looking forward to taking advantage of that this year - hopefully, at least) plus 63$ ea for gas, took a van, and a Honda CRV. Plus equipment bought, food bought and rando items like Pea-Grenades and a POS shirt I could tear around, I spent just under 400$ on last Irene.

I spent about $3,000 on the first irene I went to , but then again I had to buy everything and I also was on the ranger side taht had a set uniform that I had to have. The freedom fighter side is a little less of an issue with cost for the uniform. I think greg and I spent about $20 on two plaid shirts and then I spent another $300 on just BBs ( like I always do for irene ) and I never use anywhere near that , I think I used maybe 8,000 BBs at the most and everyone knows I am a heavy shooter. As far as teh cost fo rthe actual game I spent $180 cause I am a veteran of other lionclaws games. You guys dont have to go to irene , ther is other games like bulldog in texas ( fort hood) and night scorpion and linoclaws out in california and a couple others out there too. Once youhave been to any of these games you are a veteran and the price goes down. But once again like brent said , buy double the pistol mags you think you need. I only brought 4 and I needed many more than that. I would buy like 5 more if I was going this year. And buy a ton of gas for these mags cause you will run thru the gas and it is kinda expensive to resupply out there. Plus the vendors tents are kinda far away from the game. It sucks cause if you run out of something you just cant run over there and buy a resupply and get into the game again. You have to walk a good ways and then buy it and then walk back and then try to link up with your team and if they are dead and getting ready to respawn then you just wait a couple minutes, otherwise you could be waiting a verylong time for them to crawl through a tunnel just to get a signal from their radios as to wher they are and what they are doing. Irene is all about coordination and momentum. If you can keep moving and keep the objective in sight and just go for the mission you want then you will have fun. Dont get caught up in helping everyone you run into , you will never make it anywhere. Plus you will get into a building where there will be like 20 people are held up in a room and you ask what is going on and they say there is rangers ont eh other side of the door. Well why dont you guys do somethign about it. Cause they are scared or tired or whatever. I dont accept this kind of laziness. This is the super bowl and we dont stop but for regrouping or for waiting for someone to reload or turn their head. It was go the whole time and this game will smoke the crap out of you cause of this philosophy that ksuat used while there. I think we were the only team that was all over the map . We took every building we wanted to and when we wanted to do something we tryed till we succeeded. This is why you need to train and be serious about getting this game in your mind. I memorized the map before I went and that way I didnt have to look at it. I planned routes on the map on my laptop on how I would go to each building and how I would have the team stack and what are the strong points to each building and weak points. I did the recon the day before and didnt go by the missions that they kept telling us taht we had to do . We (ksuat) had our own mission. It was to have fun and kick some butt. We wanted to shoot col McKnight but we never really saw him the whole game. When we did it was just useless, cause he stood around with like 30 guys just talking. So we had fun. We took buildings with the 6 man team that had 30 guys in it and we totally cleared the whole building. That is impressive. We made a name for ourselves with the whole FF side and we established good sportsmanship in the game whereever we went on teh field. Overall I think that we should send out a complete squad this year. I am talkgin about a ten man team that will have its own medic and SAW gunner and we need a 203 gunner with a ton of rounds to help breach buildings alot easier. We also need a good sniper. One that can pick targets off when we are on top of the roofs. I also think that as a group you guys going should invest in those pea grenades so that you can bang a room and breach alot easier. Just wear gloves when using them. But yeah , thats all for now. Later DOc
